According to MP John Robertson, he and his constituents are against pokie reform as he believes they had been mislead about the initiative. He intially supported the idea when precommitment was shopped around as a voluntary feature. Now that pokie reform is making precommitment mandatory, John Robertson and other Blacktown politicians no longer stand behind the cause.
They are expected to attend a rally that will take place this week, during which individuals from across the country will speak out against pokie reform. Many individuals feel that the reform infringe on their rights to spend their own money as they see fit, and they will argue against the implementation of the initiative. On on the other hand, many charities and welfare groups are for pokie reform.
They believe that it will help to curb the rates of gambling addiction across the country, but those with opinion do not seem to be in the majority.
