In Australia, residents are prohibited from taking part in a wide range of online gambling activities; however, all that could change. Recently, several proposals have been revealed, which show that it would be beneficial for the country to legalize and regulate several different kinds of online gambling activities. Currently, online sportsbetting is the only activity which is regulated by the government –and only a few operators are permitted to offer it.

At the moment, several different types of sportsbetting are prohibited, including live betting. The potential gambling law changes could see a wider range of operators offering the activity and several options opened up to the public. Online poker tournaments are another activity that could see regulation by the Australian government.

Several operators have already expressed interest in this option, as it would present them with a new and interesting way to earn money in the Australian gambling market. While this is all very good news for the local gambling market, all of the suggestions are still only proposals. As such, they government has not made any decisions on the issue yet; however, we will keep you updated with any new developments.
