The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation works hard to ensure that residents from across the state gamble safely. The organisation has decided to renew its partnership with Netball Victoria in order to promote responsible gambling among athletes across the state. As part of the continued partnership, Netball Victoria will promote the Responsible Gambling Foundation’s ‘Gambling is not a Game’ campaign.

The initiative will encourage grassroots sports clubs across the state to make clubs more responsible gambling environment. “We want to help the Foundation’s message reach families and communities in an attempt to educate and provide awareness about gambling,” says Michelle Plane, CEO of Netball Victoria.

The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation wants to use sports to ensure that young people throughout the state develop responsible gambling habits as they get older. Victorian youth are increasingly influenced by sports, and it is important for clubs to promote responsible gambling. It is crucial that young people are aware that gambling and sports do not come hand in hand.

The organisation aims to ensure that spectators can enjoy watching sports without feeling compelled to wager on the match.

“Partnering with Netball Victoria will help us reach out to players and fans of all ages with responsible gambling messages and to encourage people to look out for each other on and off the court,” says Serge Sardo, CEO of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation. ‘Gambling is not a Game’ and the organisation’s partnership with Netball Australia are part of the Responsible Gambling Foundation’s ongoing initiative to promote safe gambling in the state.

It is great to see local organisations working together to prevent underage gambling and problem gambling in Victoria. You can learn more about Netball Victoria’s responsible gambling initiatives at: http://kidbet.com.au/sporting-clubs/.
