When a venue obtains a gambling or a liquor license, the owner must demonstrate that alcohol will be served responsibly and that staff are trained in responsible gambling measures. However, it is not uncommon for venue owners to not have the most up-to-date information – and, new information sessions from the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation aims to keep them inthe know.
Next month, the VCGLR will be heading to Morwell to conducts its third Liquor and Gambling Information Session. Representatives from the commission will teach business owners about valuable gambling and liquor regulation measures that will help them comply with government regulations and look after the best interests of community members.
“There are sessions on liquor licensing applications, codes of conduct, responsible gambling and responsible service of alcohol – tailored to licensees so they come away from the sessions with the most up-to-date and accurate information possible,” says Catherine Myers, CEO of the VCGLR .
Licensees will have the opportunity to ask questions in order to learn everything they need to know about compliancy in the liquor and gambling industry. VCGLR staff as well as members of the GoodSports program and Victoria Police will be on hand to provide accurate and in-depth information that will benefit venue owners and patrons.
It is great to see the VCGLR reaching out to community members in order to ensure that gaming clubs and bars are up to date with liquor and gambling laws. This ensures that patrons are well looked after when having a night out. The information session is free to members of the community. It will be held on Wednesday, October 1 from 10am to 2:30pm at the Kernot Hall, Corner Princes Drive and Monash Way, Morwell.
