It cannot be denied that social gaming is one of the most popular trends in the gambling world. We are seeing more and more operators get involved in social gaming by launch their own mobile and Facebook apps. One of the latest companies to get involved is PokerStars, having recently announced the full launch of its first Facebook social game. For the past year and a half, PokerStars Play has been in the beta stage.
In February 2013, the game was launched as a beta product on Facebook. Since then, the game has seen an average of over 100 000 players per month. Now, the game will be given a full launch on Facebook. “While this social poker offering is not real money gaming, Rational has begun to modify this offering through the sale of chips to players with important upgrades,” says PokerStars CEO David Baazov.
“We anticipate social gaming will be an important growth opportunity for the company,” he added. PokerStars Play emulates the gameplay of the actual PokerStars real-play client. It gives players the exact same experience they would get from the downloadable game except without requiring players to download any software or wager any money at all. Like most other social poker apps, players can interact with friends and send them gifts.
They can also compete with other players using the leader board. This title sets itself apart from competition from other social poker games like Zynga Poker because it offers up several unique features.
For example, players can take part in virtual European Poker Tours and earn achievements, such as ‘Go All In’ or be dealt a Pocket Pair.
