Earlier this year, UK bookmaker BetFred launched its online betting service in Australia. The company has seen a positive response, and aims to continue providing players with innovative technology. As such, BetFred has chosen to partner with GTECH to operate its interactive sports betting service.
“We tasked GTECH and Betfred’s front-end development agency, Degree 53, in developing a new stand-alone system with a localized offering for the Australian market,” says Luke Brill, Managing Director of BetFred Australia. “They both rose to this challenge and delivered a sports mobile product on time and within budget.” GTECH has worked with BetFred for 10 years on its online betting service in the United Kingdom.
This will be the first time that GTECH and BetFred have worked together on a standalone interactive betting service in a foreign market. The two companies look forward to working together on similar ventures in the future. Australia continues to be a lucrative market for online sports betting operators from around the world.
Companies like William Hill and BetFred have recently found their way into the Australian gambling market, competing with local operators like TabCorp and Sporting Bet. Competition in the market is certainly heating up, providing local punters with plenty of choice when it comes to where they can find the best bets when wagering on sports.
Local operators will certainly have to step up their game, as BetFred and other UK operators are bringing unique and innovative technology into the market. While TabCorp’s mobile betting continues to thrive, the company will need to start thinking ahead to determine the next big trends in mobile betting are.
Then, we will see even more fierce competition between local gambling operators and international firms like BetFred and William Hill.
