In two days, Victoria’s Responsible Gambling Awareness week will begin. From 26 May to 1 June, the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation will promote responsible gambling through a number of events and discussions that will be held across the state. The event will focus on a wide range of responsible gambling concerns, such as youth gambling and problem gambling among particular ethnic minorities.

Organisers aim to ensure that more Victorians are aware of ways in which they can gambling responsibly and how they can look out for signs of problem gambling in loved ones. Over 70 events will take place across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Some events will be more involved than others.

For example, the Gambling And Youth event is a question and answer session about underage gambling while the AFL Collingwood v West Coast game will just feature a run-through banner. Regardless, all events aim to promote responsible gambling whether in a big or small way. Crown Melbourne will also be taking part in the festivities by hosting two Have You Had A Break sessions on 29 May and 30 May.

These sessions will be held in the Groove Bar from 10am to 2pm, and they will launch the casino’s new program which encourages pokie players to take regular breaks from playing casino games. Players from the National Rugby League will be in attendance. Several partners are working with the Responsible Gambling Foundation to ensure the success of the event.

AFL Victoria has joined up as a partner, as well as Collingwood Football Club, Melbourne Victoria Football Club and North Melbourne Football Club. Netball Victoria, VicHealth and VicSport have also leant their support as partners.

Groups that have partnered for this event in particular include: Australian Hotels Association, Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group, Community Clubs Association of Victoria, Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria, Gambler’s Help Services, Interchurch Gambling Taskforce, Primary Care Partnerships, Tabcorp, Tatts Group, Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre, United Voice, Victorian Commission for Liquor and Gambling Regulation and Victorian Local Governance Association.
