The casino gambling industry often finds its way into the media spotlight over scandals and gossip. Usually, it’s the patrons who get into fights and make the news – but, yesterday, it was casino mogul James Packer. His fist fight with David Gyngell was photographed by onlookers, and now media outlets are willing to pay steep prices to get their hands on the snapshots. At the moment, little is known about the fight.
There is only witness testimony which state that Packer and Gyngell, his former best man, were seen fighting each other outside of his beach home. Photographer Brendan Beirne was one of the first to catch the fight on film. He had been tailing James Packer to get a shot of him with model Miranda Kerr, but he stumbled upon something much more scandalous.
Gyngell had been waiting for his friend outside of his beach house for 20 minutes before he arrived. “When Packer got out of his car, Gyngell came around to his side of the car and within seconds it just exploded,’’ Beirne told reporters. News of the braw quickly spread, and it has become a conversation topic on social media sites.
Several Photoshop creations have appeared, with Packer and Gyngell’s heads super imposed on humorous images. One Twitter users even made a Mortal Kombat-style animated video. To calm the media buzz, Packer and Gyngell released a statement shortly after the incident: “We have been friends for 35 years and still are. In that time we have had our fair share of ups and downs.
We respect each other and neither of us will be commenting further”. News outlets are still on the hunt for photos of the punch up. It’s likely that they will pay a pretty penny for any shots that onlookers may have.
