Ever since Zynga has appointed Don Mattrick as its new CEO, the company has been making some interesting business partnerships. First, the company signed up to become a real-money gambling operator on Facebook Games. Now, Zynga has partnered with popular toy manufacturer Hasbro. Hasbro is known for creating some of the world’s most popular toy brands, such as NERF, My Little Pony and Play-Doh.
Now, the company will be introducing a new line of toys that are based on popular Zynga titles, such as Words With Friends, Farmville, Cityville and Draw Something. "We are thrilled to be working with Zynga to give their millions of fans an exciting experience with the Zynga games they love," Eric Nyman of Hasbro Gaming has been quoted as saying in a press release.
"Gaming brings people together, especially during the holidays, and we can't wait to offer friends and families even more great options to play." The new titles will bring Zynga digital games to life. Whereas these games are usually played online from computers or mobile phones, they will now be accessible in the real world.
For example, Hasbro will be creating a Monopoly game based on CityVille, so players can experience the exciting of the digital game in a traditional board game format. Words With Friends will be made into a board game as well, so families and friends can gather around the dining room table to compete. This is a very interesting partnership.
We have seen many traditional games make their way into the digital world, such as Monopoly, but this has not yet occurred the other way around. This is the first time digital games will make the transition to offline games, and we are excited to see the result. If any manufacturer can pull it off, it is certainly Hasbro.
