After the head of the Star Casino, Sid Vaikunta, was fired due to allegations of sexual harassment, the government and the casino operator have become embroiled in a bitter media battle. The two entities are accusing each other of committing troublesome and even illegal acts, causing the inquiry into the matter to now be carried out in public. Originally, the hearing was planned to be held privately.
Since sexual harassment is a sensitive topic, the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority decided that it would be best to protect the potential victims in this way. However, the recently accusations and of each party involved have caused the authority to reconsider its plan of action. In order for any of the evidence presented by either side to have any sort of credibility, it seems that the inquiry must be carried out in public.
With all of the questionable information being thrown around, the only way to ensure that the truth gets out is to hold public hearings and present the evidence in that way. Should this be the case, residents can rest assured that the ILGA has done its job properly. Otherwise, they may be weary of the credibility of the outcome and decision.
