After months of renovations, Casino Canberra has finally re-opened to the public. The venue showed off its new look on Friday with a posh opening party with over 600 guests. Casino Canberra has never been known for being a luxury venue, and was considered a more down-market options for casino visitors. Now, Aquis Entertainment has turned the casino into a high-class gambling destination.
The venue has been fitted with chandeliers that hang from high ceilings and a look that is more lavish than before according to Her Canberra. “Quite frankly, this casino is unrecognisable from what it used to. I will be blunt, when I came to this casino from Macau I thought to myself this is the worst casino I have ever seen in my life,” says Rhiannon Bach, General Manager of Casino Canberra.
“But it has potential and the opportunity to do this refurbishment was a chance to create space worthy of the nation’s capital.” There is a new signature restaurant on site, called Natural 9 that serve Australian-French fusion food. The new Chandelier Bar and Onyx Lounge offer up more food and beverage options in more extravagant settings. There is also a new VIP gaming salon and a new poker lounge called The Lotus Room.
The casino will also offer players 200 poker machines. This is the first time that pokies have been made available in any venue outside of a club in Canberra. It is a ground-breaking move that has angered the clubs industry but it will certainly help to draw in more tourists and boost the local economy. And, this is just the beginning – Aquis Entertainment has proposed the construction of a $330 million casino resort.
It will feature two hotels, several restaurants and resort-style entertainment. The new property aims to capitalise on the addition of new international flights to the ACT. The newly renovated Casino Canberra will transform the gambling market in the ACT. Individuals who visit the casino will be able to do more than just play slots and table games; they will have a full entertainment experience in a high-class venue.
Thanks to this transformation, Aquis Entertainment is confident that it will bring in hundreds of thousands more visitors to the capital.
