Adelaide Casino will soon undergo an expensive expansion, worth $300 million. This week, SkyCity has announced its plans for the makeover, which will include a luxury hotel and VIP gaming suites. According to Adelaide Now, the $300 million redevelopment will include an 80-room luxury hotel, as well as a 24-storey office building. There will also be a shopping centre and plenty of high-class restaurants and bars.
SkyCity wants to make its casinos more competitive with other resorts across the country. Over the years, Crown and Echo Entertainment have been upgrading their properties to attract a wealthier calibre of visitors, namely tourists from Asia. After this upgrade, SkyCity hopes that Adelaide Casino will become another option for high-class patrons.
“Our Adelaide Casino development will help South Australia attract a greater share of high-value international visitors, particularly from China and South-East Asia,” says SkyCity CEO Nigel Morrison. Another major benefit of the casino redevelopment is that the area will be transformed into an entertainment district.
Adelaide Casino will not just be a casino resort; it will be a precinct that will offer tourists and local residents a wide range of entertainment. It will also create jobs, helping to boost the local economy in a number of ways.
Mr Morrison continues: “This development will help transform Station Road into a true entertainment precinct and SkyCity’s investment will create much-needed jobs and economic growth for South Australia and complement the redeveloped Adelaide Oval and the new and expanded Adelaide Convention Centre,” he said.
There is no word yet on when construction will begin, or when the project is expected to be finished. We are eager to find out when the newly redeveloped Adelaide Casino will be open to the public, and will keep you updated with further developments.
