Earlier this year, the media was full of reports that Ben Affleck was kicked out of a casino and was in trouble with his wife Jennifer Garden over his gambling habits. He kept quiet about the issue at the time, but is now speaking out about the claims. In May 2014, Ben Affleck was shooting the upcoming Batman movie in Las Vegas. During his off time, he visited the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to play some blackjack.
Eventually, he was discovered to be counting cards by casino staff and asked to leave. According to TMZ, he was banned from the casino. Now, Affleck is clearing up the rumours. According to ABC News, Ben Affleck states that he was not actually kicked out of the casino. He admits to counting cards but he was not actually asked to leave. Instead, he was told that he can’t play blackjack and was welcomed to play other games.
He says that the conversation went something like this: “Hey, you can’t play blackjack here. We know you count cards. But, you know, you’re welcome to come, do whatever you want, see a show, have dinner. We’ll comp ya. Play roulette, we know you don’t play craps, but hang out, we still want your presence and business”. It certainly makes sense that the casino would treat the situation in this manner.
A gambling venue in Las Vegas would not want to ban a high-profile celebrity that would bring in more business. So, we can see why he was asked to stop playing blackjack but not removed from the premises. He also addressed the rumours about this wife being concerned about his gambling habits. According to the interview with ABC News, Jennifer Garner is not upset about his gambling.
Affleck states that it was a complete lie.
