It is always a shame when a gaming firm that creates high-quality online pokies encounters legal issues. This week, BetSoft has had its online gaming license suspended by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), and the restriction will take effect immediately. The action is a result of the AGCC’s suspension of operations for Digitus Limited, which is the parent company of BetSoft.
There is no word yet on why the suspension has taken place, but it does seem quite serious. The AGCC will perform a regulatory hearing of Digitus Limited, during which BetSoft and Digitus will not be able to carry out their online gaming operations. BetSoft will also be prohibited from licensing any software to new operators.
It is certainly a major drawback for the company, which has recently started to expand and develop in the online gambling world.
“The above named company must, until the Suspension Notice is cancelled or the Commission of the Alderney eGambling Control Commission he reached determination at the conclusion of the hearing convened in accordance with Regulation 90 of the Alderne eGambling Regulations, 2009 cease to exercise their Core Services Associate Certificate which means that this company must, from today, cease to offer gambling specific software to Category 1 eGambling licensees, Category 2 eGambling licensees and Category 2 Associate Certificate holders”.
This is the second time in a year that the AGCC has taken action against a licensee. In October 2013, Sheriff Gaming had its license suspended by the regulatory body. Sheriff Gaming’s parent company Bubble Gaming was accused of money laundering, drug dealing and illegal gambling. The company could not fight the claims, and Sheriff Gaming has yet to recover.
We still don’t know why the suspension was imposed on BetSoft, but we hope that it is not as serious as Sheriff Gaming’s situation. If so, it is unlikely that BetSoft will be able to retrieve its license.
The good news is that BetSoft still has one license in Curacao. So, there are still some sites that offer BetSoft titles like Fruit Zen, SugarPop and Black Gold.
