The proposal for the Aquis casino resort has been approved, and the project’s developer is extending an open invite to all local businesses in Cairns. The developer wants to ensure that the new property benefits the local community, and is inviting business owners to register with the project in case their services can be used.
The new Aquis hotel resort will be home to nine hotels, a shopping centre, a casino, an aquarium, two theatres, a lagoon, a lake, a sports stadium, a golf course and an exhibition centre. It is estimated that the property will bring in $2 billion for the local economy every year, and will create 26 000 jobs. As such, the casino resort presents the community with plenty of economic benefits simply by existing.
However, project managers want to take one step further by ensuring that local businesses are utilized whenever possible. Representatives from Aquis want the local community to know that thy are dedicated to boosting Cairns’ economy. As such, they want to take advantage of the services available to them in the city rather than outsourcing to companies in other locations across the country or around the world.
"We want to make a positive statement about our commitment to engaging local business wherever possible when we are sourcing services for the project,” reads a statement from Aquis. “We encourage all local businesses to register their details with us no matter how remote you think the possibility might be that we would require your particular goods or service."
Tony Fung, the brains behind the property has already made it known that he wants the community to fully support the casino resort. He wants local residents and business owners to know that Aquis aims to benefit Cairns while bringing a new entertainment experience to the city.
