Across Australia, politicians and businesspeople have recognised the huge potential of investing in the gambling market. In Queensland and New South Wales, we have seen plenty of new plans for impressive casino venues that will boost the local economy. Now, the ACT is hopping on board the trend, as Casino Canberra will be undergoing a major renovation.
The redevelopment of Casino Canberra is a major project for the state, and it will have a hugely positive effect on the economy. In addition to creating more jobs for residents, it will also bring in more tourism. Canberra provides tourists with a wide range of exciting activities, but the state has been unable to provide an exciting high-quality gambling experience – until now.
The new and improved Casino Canberra will provide ACT tourists with a first-class gambling experience that is on par with renowned venues like Crown Melbourne and The Star. "When people, visitors come to Canberra, they have a variety of interests – everything from family fun to national cultural institutions, but there are a proportion that want to visit a casino,” says Chris Faulks, Chief Executive of the Canberra Business Chamber.
“The casino in Canberra has not been competitive or has not had a huge attraction up until now, so we think it's a fantastic idea that there will be more investment," she said. The casino was purchased by Tony Fung in December 2014, and he has recently revealed his plans for the property. The redeveloped casino will feature better restaurants and facilities for visitors to enjoy.
It will also feature a completely new look that conveys luxury and excitement. Overall, he aims to turn Casino Canberra into a Las Vegas-style venue that combines nightlife, dining and gambling.
