In any industry, an employer’s responsibility to its workers’ wellbeing rarely extends beyond offering health insurance. At MGM, the casino operator is taking things one step further by prioritising employee wellbeing with a wide range of new services and facilities. According to RGT Online, MGM Resorts International has launched an expanded wellness program.
Employees at its corporate campus in Las Vegas will have access to exercise equipment, free healthy meals and various classes to help keep them in great shape while they work. The campus features a wellness centre, a ‘fun room’ and various walking trails. There are even treadmills that are equipped with computers, which allow employees to get work done even while they do cardio.
All types of employees from various departments are able to take advantage of the equipment and facilities. Another great feature is ‘The Bistro’, a lunchroom that is open daily from 11:30am to 2:30pm. All meals are free, and everything on the menu is healthy. In addition to providing workers with great meal options, it also improves productivity.
Workers do not need to leave the campus for lunch, and their healthy meals provide them with the energy to stay focused after their break.
“We are deeply committed to providing health care benefits aimed at healthy living that include wellness coaches available to all of our employees, on-site fitness classes and resources within many of our properties, and benefit plans that drive a healthy lifestyle,” says Michelle DiTondo, MGM Resorts’ senior vice president of human resources.
This is a fantastic initiative. In office jobs, it is very common for workers to neglect exercise due to their demanding hours. In many cases, workers find themselves too busy to visit the gym before or after work – or even spend time preparing healthy meals. At MGM, the new wellness programs makes it easier for workers to stay healthy even with active work schedules.
