The Star Casino can’t seem to keep a managing director these days. Two years after the sacking of Sid Vaikunta, his replacement Frederic Luvisutto has resigned from the position. It is believed that he will be taking a job in Macau, and now Echo Entertainment is on the hunt for a new managing director yet again.
In 2010, Luvisutto was brought in to replace Sid Vaikunta, who was fired after being accused of sexually harassing employees. His scandal also included rumours of drug use, but these were never proven. Echo Entertainment suffered greatly, losing a key staff member and being charged with a $110 000 fine for failing to inform local authorities about the scandal.
In his two years as managing director for The Star, Mr Luvisutto contributed to the venue’s success. When he took on the role, Echo Entertainment was in a transitional period as the casino operator worked hard to establish itself as a high-end brand.
''Frederic has contributed significantly to both Jupiters Gold Coast and the Star during an important period of establishment and transition for the group,'' says Echo Entertainment CEO John Redmond. Now, it seems that he has received a better offer from the burgeoning gambling capital of Macau. According to reports, he will be taking on a position with Wynn Macau, which is one of the most successful properties in the city.
While the company searches for a replacement, Mr Redmond will act as the casino’s managing director. He will oversee day-to-day operation of the property to ensure that The Star is running optimally. There is no time to spare, as this is a very crucial moment in time for the operator. Having recently lost its bidding war over exclusivity in Sydney to Crown Casinos, Echo Entertainment has to stay on top of the competition.
