Now that the first of Brisbane’s new casino licenses have been issued, competition among the remaining short-listed companies is heating up. To boost its chances of securing a new casino license in Brisbane, Echo Entertainment is making some big changes.

According to the Courier Mail, the company has teamed up with Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited and Far East Consortium (Australia) Pty Limited, two investment and development firms from Hong Kong. Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium were both shortlisted by the Queensland government for the Queen’s Wharf development project in the CBD.

Chow Tai Fook is involved in property, hospitality and retail businesses while Far East Consortium is a property developer with major commercial and residential projects across Asia. With three renowned companies joining forces to bid for a casino license, Echo Entertainment’s proposal may seem more appealing to the state government.

One of the major selling points of this deal is that Echo Entertainment has teamed up with two Asian firms. Since most Australian casino operators aim to attract wealthy Asian visitors, insight from Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium will offer up a competitive advantage.

They will know more about the target audience that Echo Entertainment aims to attract in order to make the new Queen’s Wharf project successful and lucrative. “We are excited by the Newman Government’s vision to revitalise Brisbane by redeveloping a significant precinct in the central business district,” says Echo chief executive Matt Bekier.

“An integrated development presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for transformational change across the city and southeast Queensland”. This certainly ups the ante in the competition for a Brisbane casino license. There is no word yet on what other local casino operators will do to match the efforts of Echo Entertainment.
