This week, Paul Lennon was kicked out of Crown Casino over a controversial decision by security. The former Premier of Tasmanian has revealed that he was ejected and fined for licking his fingers while playing a $2 poker game at the casino. According to reports, Lennon states that he broke the rules by licking his fingers before touching his hole cards.
It seems like an unreasonable cause for his ejection, but it may be due to hygiene issues. Players and the dealer may not have felt comfortable handling the same cards that were essentially licked by Lennon. "At one instance I licked my index finger before touching my dealt cards, as you sometimes do," reads a statement from Lennon. "But apparently this is against the rules – something I was not aware of”.
Other players that were in the game believe that other bad behaviour influenced his ejection. According to reports, witnesses state that he was acting aggressively towards a female patron. When he was asked to leave, he refused. This could certainly be a major contribution to the reason why he was kicked out of the casino. Curiously enough, this is not the first time that the politician has been embroiled in controversy with Crown Casino.
In 2006, he was accused of corruption, after receive a room upgrade worth thousands of dollars at the casino. He was originally supposed to spend his time in a room that cost $200 per night but was upgraded to a penthouse suite. The next week, a company associated with the casino receive a gambling license in Tasmanian.
This is just one of many reasons why Lennon had a 17% approval rate among voters. In 2008, he resigned from his position. There is no word on what he has been up to lately, and this is actually the first we have heard from him in quite some time.
