Many high roller rooms in casinos across the country allow smoking to cater to VIP players. However, not all high rollers like the fact that smoking is permitted in their lounges, and one VIP has come forward to voice her concerns. In a report by the Gold Coast Bulletin, one high roller is speaking out against the smoking rules in Jupiter’s Gold Coast VIP lounge.
87-year-old Beryl Smith spends upwards of a million dollars a year at the casino, and she does not like that players are permitted to smoke while they gamble. In the regular gaming areas of Jupiter’s Gold Coast, smoking is prohibited. If players want to smoke, they must leave the gaming floor and use the smoking area. In the VIP lounge, smokers do not have to exit the property. The smoking area is located in the actual VIP room.
“It’s ridiculous, we are just inundated with smoke. You can’t even get to the door to go into the room and you’re covered in smoke,” Smith says. “It’s a health risk and it should not be allowed”. At Echo Entertainment casinos across the country, high roller rooms feature separate smoking areas.
There are table game rooms that allow smoking alongside gaming rooms that prohibit it, and Smith would like to see the same layout applied at Jupiter’s. Smith has recently informed Echo Entertainment CEO John O’Neill, who stated that he was unaware of the issue. Now that he knows that there is a health risk at Jupiter’s Gold Coast, we wonder if the layout of the casino’s high roller room will be changed.
He stated that he will speak with Echo Queensland Managing Director Geoff Hogg and work towards solving the issue.
