The Australian gambling market be seeing more wealthy Asian gamblers visiting our casinos. As the Chinese government tightens its restrictions on junket operators, they are looking to take their high roller patrons to new and upcoming gambling destinations around the world. According to Business Insider Australia, junket operators are responding to President Xi Jinping’s recent crackdown on corruption in Macau casinos.
This has resulted in several junkets having to close their VIP rooms across the city, so they are looking for new destinations for their wealthy patrons. Junkets operators like David Group are now taking their high rollers to Vietnam and the Philippines, where VIPs are able to gamble freely and without a great deal of scrutiny from the government.
The company is also making plans to venture into South Korea, Australia and countries across Europe. This seems to be the opportunity that Australian casino operators have been waiting for. Over the course of the past few years, we have seen plenty of companies like Echo Entertainment and Crown Casinos refocus their efforts onto attracting high rollers from Asia.
The country has already become a destination for some junket operators, but there is still plenty of room for growth in this market. Many new casinos will be opening up to cater to this specific market. Crown will be opening up a casino that is exclusive to high roller clientele in 2018 while billionaire Tony Fung is in the process of building an $8.15 billion casino resort that aims to attract VIP players from Asia.
Should Australia become a major destination for junket operators, the country will certainly be able to meet the demand. There will be an influx of high roller gambling venues coming to the country, providing VIP players with the opportunity to gamble in luxurious settings.
