The construction of the Aquis casino resort will soon be under the direction of Geoff Andres. He will assume the role of chief executive officer for Aquis Entertainment, providing leadership that will help to ensure that the new casino resort will be a world-class venue for international tourists and local visitors. Currently, Mr Andres is the Senior Vice-President and General Manager of the Sands Macau.
Heading up one of the most successful casino resorts in the world’s gambling capital has certainly provided him with the expertise that will be required to ensure the success of Aquis.
"Geoff will be the most experienced gaming CEO in Australia and it's encouraging that he has been able to see the vision we have for the growth of Aquis in Australia and has chosen to be part of that,” says Justin Fung, managing Director of Aquis Entertainment. "The Canberra project is our absolute focus right now and this appointment will help ensure that we deliver a world-class outcome."
The venue will cost $8.15 billion to build, and it is estimated that it will generate $55.4 billion in tourism and gaming revenue by 2030. It will create nearly 4000 construction jobs and feature a total operational workforce of 20 000 employees once the venue is open to the public. Due to these benefits and many others, the local community has expressed its support for the Aquis casino resort project.
Construction for the resort is expected to begin next year, and Aquis is planned to be open by 2018. The ACT Gambling and Racing Commission must still weigh in on Geoff Andres’ appointment. We will keep you posted with further details about Aquis’ new chief executive.
