Now that Zynga has abandoned its plans to enter the American online gambling market, the company is working on repairing its reputation in the social gaming world. Under the lead of new CEO Don Mattrick, Zynga has released a new title called Fairy Tale Twist, the first in a series of games that aims to make the company a top performer once again.
In the game, players are presented with a grid filled with different shapes of varying colours. When groups of three or more shapes are made, they disappear and the player earns points. This is quite a unique concept for Zynga, but it certainly has been seen before in the social gaming market. Games like Bejeweled and Candy Crush are based on this format.
These are certainly the kinds of games that social gamers are interested in nowadays, so it seems only natural that Zynga would want to hop on with the trend. As players progress through the game, they are taken on a journey through a fairy tale book. Each level tells a story, immersing the player in the gameplay and the plot.
Players encounter plenty of famous fairy tale characters, including Little Red Riding Hood, the Big Bad Wolf and Rumpelstiltskin. “I see the potential in all parts of our business – from regaining share on Facebook to leveraging our intellectual property, our network and our knowledge for mobile,” says Mattrick.
“I believe we have the staying power to successfully navigate our transition and create connected experiences that span multiple devices and multiple operating systems.” There are more games to come, as Zynga aims to recapture a significant portion of the social gaming world’s market share. The company has suffered for quite some time, and is now ready to begin creating innovative, trend-setting games that social gamers will enjoy.
