Online gambling research firm Traffic Generation recently published a report stating that online casino players are interested in branching out into a diverse range of social networks. To build on his trend, TG has announced its new promotion service that uses Snapchat to send out messages and promotions to online casino customers.
If you’re unfamiliar with Snapchat, it is an instant messaging service which allows users to send quick videos and photos. They can send media and choose how long the content will be available to their friends. So, if you open up a photo, you may only have five seconds to view it. The app has become very popular among a wide range of smart phone users, and gaming operators are beginning to recognize its potential as a marketing tool.
To advantage of the Snapchat trend, TG has launched a new promotions feature. Through the Traffic Generation Snapchat account, the firm will offer its contacts daily promos and features. “TG’s new service is a direct response to the changing marketplace and opens up possibilities for our clients to engage with customers in a range of innovative ways,” says Andy Caras-Altas.
“Holding 1-2-1 conversations with customers in a time-dependent manner delivers significantly higher promotional response rates and helps to build much closer relationships”. Traffic Generation’s recent report on social media found that 22% of online casino customers are interested in new social networking opportunities.
Facebook and Twitter are useful, but players would like to see operators using less traditional means, like Pinterest, Snapchat and Instagram. There is great potential for marketing in the online gambling market using Snapchat. Operators can send out ‘snaps’ of time-sensitive promotional codes that encourage players to act quickly.
This direct conversation is more personal than other social networking formats like Facebook and Twitter, and there is the possibility that Snapchat could become the preferred method of social media marketing among online gambling operators.
