Australian gambling mogul James Packer is renowned for his lavish spending. However, this not only applies to his lifestyle but also to his corporate projects. This week, it has been announced that Packer will be working with Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt on the most expensive corporate movie ever. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the corporate video will promote James Packers’ new casino in Macau.
The $2.9 billion Studio City resort will open later this year. With a cinematic theme, it is certainly fitting that Hollywood royalty would be featured its corporate video. The new resort is Melco Crown’s third venue in Macau, and it will build on the success of City of Dreams and Altira. The resort will have 500 gaming tables, 1500 pokies, a five-star hotel, a shopping mall and an entertainment studio.
It will create 8000 jobs for locals, and bring in even more generous tourism revenue for the city. So, it seems fitting that this multi-billion dollar resort will be presented with an incredibly expensive corporate video. In addition to being directed by Martin Scorses, it will be scripted by Terrence Winter – the brain behind the Wolf of Wall Street and creator of Boardwalk Empire.
The short will also be produced by Plan B Entertainment, Brad Pitt’s production company. The movie represents Packer’s goal “bring together Western and Eastern culture” in Macau. It is certainly an interesting approach, as many casino operators in the city are solely focused on their gaming offerings.
“The short will premiere next year at the opening of Melco Crown's newest movie themed resort Studio City in Macau and be used to support the company’s expansion in Asia and globally,” RatPack Entertainment said in an interview with MailOnline. “This is an unprecedented collaboration because it’s the first time Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio ever worked with Martin Scorsese together in the same film”.
