Earlier this month, Playtech came under fire for releasing an online slots game which depicted Hindu deities in an unfavourable light. It was called Lakshmi’s Gold, and its symbols were based on Lakshmi and Ganesh, two Hindu Gods. Now, after upsetting the Hindu community, PlayTech has pulled the game from all of its online casinos.

Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of prosperity, and it seemed like a natural fit for the theme of an online slots game. However, the decision was quite ill-advised, as the online casino world has never seen an online slots game based on religious figures. As such, as soon as hearing about the game, the Hindu community demanded that it be removed from the online gambling world.

Just a few days after hearing of the complaints, PlayTech has pulled the game from its online casinos. Hindu leader Rajan Zed, who was the first to speak out against the game, has stated that he is pleased that the game has been recalled as requested. However, he still believes that an apology is due.
