Last month, PokerStars announced its plans to launch a sportsbook. Now, the online poker provider has finally launched its new sportsbetting offering, and it is available in Beta mode. The new PokerStars sportsbook provides players with the opportunity to wager on all types of sporting events. Right now, the service is available in Beta, and the company plans for a full launch to occur within the next few months.
"Thus far, we have seen cross-sell rates and revenue yields above our expectations, with a significant majority of the casino spend coming from new deposits to the platforms,” says David Baazov of PokerStars. “We anticipate the launch of sports betting in certain markets in the coming days with an expansion across the network to take place through the first half of 2015."
This is the second non-poker product that PokerStars has launched. Last year, the company launched its online casino service, providing players with the chance to play games like online pokies, blackjack and roulette. Thus far, PokerStars has been quite successful in its venture, as the site has been able to attract players who are not particularly interested in playing poker and would rather play luck-based casino games instead.
The diversification of PokerStars is also quite popular among existing players. Sportsbetting is very popular among poker players, and it is also very common for players to spend cash on table games after they have made a small amount of money in a cash game or poker tournament. The new casino games and table games will certainly help PokerStars attract new players and boost the company’s profile even further.
PokerStars is already one of the most popular poker sites, and it could begin ranking among the top online casinos.
