Queen’s Wharf will be the site of a new casino resort development in Brisbane, and two major casino operators are bidding on the project. While the venue will bring in plenty of tourism revenue from overseas and create thousands of jobs, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has some concerns about the project.
According to a report in the Courier Mail, Ms Palaszczuk has requested an investigation into the ‘certain issues’ about the proposal for a casino resort development at Queen’s Wharf. The proposal was initiated by the Liberal National Party last year, offering up a potential way for the state to boost the economy. There has been plenty of interest from casino operators but the current Premier requires some additional information.
When asked about the issues, Ms Palaszczuk was somewhat vague. She has not specifically expressed her concerns; all we know is that she is dubious. “I have just raised a couple of preliminary issues and I want to get some advice on that first and then I’m happy to share them with everybody,” she says. She also recognises how beneficial the project will be for Brisbane and the state of Queensland.
By creating thousands of jobs, the casino resort at Queen’s Wharf will help to greatly boost the economy. It will also generate plenty more tourism from overseas visitors as well as people from other parts of Australia. While the investigation is being carried out, the bidding and planning process may continue. Her request will not require the process to be paused. As this story develops, we will keep you posted.
