Facebook is becoming a popular social gambling destination. Every month, millions of players log on to their Facebook accounts to play free online casino games like Double Down Casino and Mirrorball Slots. But, how willing are these players to wager on these games with real-cash? A new study by Traffic Generation finds that players are open to the idea.

According to a recent survey, 44% of social slots players on Facebook stated that they would play their favourite games for real money if they were available at online casinos or land-based gambling venues. This makes a great case for convincing land-based operators to bring their games online, as they can appeal to a wider audience who could convert to paying customers.

“There is clearly a demand and opportunity to build land-based players out of their social play,” says Andy Caras-Altas, CEO of Traffic Generation. “Operators with the capability to bring their games to land-based casinos would have to make decisions about partnering with land-based providers.” Players also expressed their reasons for choosing to play social games on Facebook.

46% of players stated that they enjoy being able to compete against their friends. This is a capability that that most real-money online casinos operators do not offer, but it may be time to explore the option. Leaderboards, messaging and the ability to share content are all social features that could greatly benefit online casino operators. Social gambling is an exciting and important development in the world of online gaming.

Real-money operators may be reluctant to get involved in the market, but it provides them with potential to reach out to a new group of potential consumers. This new study also shows that social gamers are likely to convert into real-money gambling players, so there are plenty of opportunities for gambling operators to thrive in this market.
