For years, TabCorp and the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) have enjoyed a sponsorship deal that have benefitted both parties. Now, they have decided to extend their agreement until 2024. The Victoria Racing Club is the largest member-based racing club in the world.
Members of the club receive all sorts of great benefits, including admission to all Flemington racemeetings, subsidised dining, access to Member’s Only areas and plenty more perks. The new deal will take effect on August 1, as TabCorp will continue to be the official betting partner of the VRC. The bookmaker will also assume this role for the Melbourne Cup Carnival, which consists of race days through September, October and November.
Much of the original agreement will stay the same, with only a few changes. One such change will provide TabCorp with naming rights sponsorship of the Group 1 Australian Cup, and the company will be granted support sponsorship of the Emirates Melbourne Cup. Both of these sponsorships will further establish TabCorp as a leading gaming brand.
“The VRC is one of the world’s premier race clubs and Tabcorp is delighted to extend our partnership through to the expiry of Tabcorp’s current Victorian Wagering and Betting Licence in 2024,” says David Attenborough, Chief Executive Officer of TabCorp. This is good news for TabCorp, after the organisation lost its recent High Court battle against the Victorian government.
The bookmaker was part of a duopoly with Tatts Group until 2008, when Labour gave control of pokies back to pubs and clubs. TabCorp and Tatts Group sought a total of $1.4 billion in compensation, but were rebuffed by the courts. The sponsorship with Victoria Racing Club is a great opportunity for TabCorp.
Since the VRC is world-renownd, this deal will help the bookmaker continue to maintain its reputation as a leading gaming provider in Australia.
