Are you bold enough to venture into the lair of the Minotaur, a terrifying mythical creature with the head of a bull but the body of a man, where great treasures await intrepid explorers? Retread the steps of Theseus into the notoriously fiendish Labyrinth as you test your luck in this thrilling game - available for free, just like all our other pokies...
Relive the Legend
Minotaurus takes its inspiration from the Greek myth of the Minotaur, where legendary hero Theseus, with the help of his lover Ariadne, made his way through the deadly maze and battled the Minotaur victoriously. The game brilliantly recreates this legend, taking place in a deep, dark cavern illuminated only by flickering torches.
The theme is sustained with Greek-style lettering and symbols featuring characters and objects from the myth. The sound effects evoke the Minotaur’s lair with every spin - heavy rolling boulders and deep, haunting laughter from the eponymous beast himself.
Format
Minotaurus is a five-reel ten-line pokie. As with other pokies from Endorphina, players can change settings to their liking. Coin values can be changed from 0.01, 0.10, 0.50, 1, 2 or 5 credits per line by clicking on the coin symbol in the top left. The buttons in the bottom left allow you to set your bet per line, and the total bet for all lines is shown to the right of this in a very intuitive interface.
Click on the Menu button to see the huge variety of settings for video, sound and even language. The game has an auto-spin function for those who would rather get straight to the action, the settings for which can also be changed. This gives you an advanced level of control over your play in general. Once you’re ready, hit ‘spin’ and take the plunge into the Labyrinth.
Mythical Symbols
The value of symbols changes depending on your base bet per line - set at the bottom left of the screen. The lowest-value symbols are playing cards, from Jack to high Ace, which are nicely rendered as if they had been hewn from rock. Assuming a bet per line of 10, a line of four Jacks or Queens pays out 300, and five earns you 1,000. That’s not to say that greater riches cannot be found in the Labyrinth, however.
Besides the playing cards, players also encounter famous symbols from the myth, including the Sword of Aegeus, the ball of thread given by Ariadne to Theseus to help him find his way out and the characters themselves. Five balls of thread pay out a generous 5,000 coins for a bet per line of 10, while five Theseuses earns you an incredible 10,000!
Can You Slay the Wild Beast?
The Minotaur himself is the Wild symbol in the game. Minotaurs occupy the entire reel and feature on reels two to four. While there are no free spins, Minotaurs activate re-spins, which can continue until you get a winning spin which is boosted by a multiplier from 10x to 1000x!
Whenever you hit a winning spin, you’re given the option to keep your winnings or gamble in a battle with the Minotaur. Hit gamble and you’ll either make it through the Labyrinth to find Ariadne and double your winnings or lose everything if you bump into the Minotaur. The stakes are high, but the rewards are too!
