Recently, PokerStars announced the addition of casino games and sportsbetting to its site. To help keep players safe and uphold its dedication to responsible gambling, PokerStars has introduced new measures.
Player will be given the option to opt out of seeing the casino games and sportsbetting offerings. So, players who are only interested in playing poker will only be able to see poker games and tournaments. This enables players to visit the site without being tempted to play games of luck when they actually prefer games of skill.
This distinction is very important for Poker Stars. Many poker players avoid playing casino games, like pokies and roulette; however, when they are presented with the option of playing these games, they tend to go overboard. As such, players prefer to visit sites like Poker Stars because they are dedicated to poker only. These new measures provide them with the opportunity to keep their gaming experience the same.
"PokerStars has a long and proud history of integrating responsible gaming features into its software,” says Jeanne David, Responsible Gaming Manager of Poker Stars. “The casino and sports betting offerings will be no different."
Players will be able to hide the casino games and have the opportunity to take advantage of many other safe gambling measures. Betting limits will also be made available, helping players to ensure that their spending remains within their budgets.
The introduction of these new measures shortly after Vicky Coren left Team PokerStars. She was a member of the professional poker team for years, but decided to leave now that PokerStars is offering casino games. Although she plays poker for a living, she draws a distinctive line between casino games and poker – identifying the former as potentially dangerous.
As such, Coren has left PokerStars because she could not support the site’s decision to launch games like online pokies and table games.
