Charms and Witches Introduction
This five-reel, 25-payline game from Side City Studios is easy to play, with clear instructions and a control panel across the bottom of the screen. Players start with a 1000 credits, and the default bet of 0.75 a spin can easily be raised or lowered using the triangles to the left of the screen. Screen action is immediate, and even at the lowest stake levels wins seem consistent.
Icons and Symbols
Images in this game, which include bats, crows and black cats, fit well with the theme, and many have a little extra something about them that you may not expected to see. These include a medallion-wearing rat and a shoe with a rather sinister eye attached. Other icons featured are a wizard’s hat, a cauldron sporting some rather uninviting green liquid, a scarecrow Jack O' Lantern and two brooms tied together.
A pretty girl wearing pink is the only obvious human character, but is she hiding something? The remaining symbols feature the usual game options of Wild and Scatter, plus the extra, Pick Me. Watch out for the unusual, in particular the bats which may fly across the screen at any random moment! When this happens, symbols are transformed into Wilds.
Spooky Shape-Shifting
Nothing is ever quite what it seems in this unique game, so be prepared to meet several shape-changers. One moment you are gazing at a regular woman, and the next you are staring at a witch, with a sinister grin replacing the pretty blonde smile. Some report that animals regularly turn into old men - so keep your eyes open and stay safe!
Payouts
Landing five matches of an icon is always the key to the best rewards, and as with many games Charms and Witches pays out much more generously for five on a spin than four. The wizard's hat is the one to watch for, by miles, with the top prize of a 3000x payout, with the girl in pink paying 500 for five. Everything else pays between 5/100x and 5/250x, but they appear more often on the reels.
The bonuses are fun, with three or more Scatters netting you 10 free games with tripled prizes, while the Pick Me card (reels 2-5) invites the player to choose their next course of action, which could be to pick again or to win all. This is triggered when three or more potion bottle bonus icons appear on screen together.
Overall, this is a fast-moving and visually engaging game which is fun for players of all experience levels. Lots of chances to win and lots of fun while doing so make this a double winner.
