The Great Escape Artist Introduction
The Great Escape Artist is one of the great free pokies from Genesis. It follows the adventures of Larry Linguini, a stage magician and escape artist who has sold his soul to the devil in return for success. It is a five-reel pokie with 50 paylines and there is a mobile version available, meaning that you can escape from reality into the game whenever you want.
Amazing the audience
The game takes place on an old-fashioned theatre stage, draped with deep blue curtains. You can hear the audience chattering at the beginning of the game as they wait for the famed escape act to take to the stage and amaze them with his daring and skill. The soundtrack becomes more eerie as Larry Linguini begins his performance and the tension mounts.
Choose the amount you want to bet and the number of lines you want to play, and it is time for the show to begin! The lowest paying symbols in the game are the playing card symbols, which fit in very well with the stage magician theme of the story. Three Nines on a line will multiply your initial wager by five, with the wins increasing depending on how often the symbols show up. Five Aces will multiply your initial wager by 150.
Introducing the cast
There are other symbols involved in Larry’s story and once they start to appear, the winnings accompany them - as if by magic. The first of these is a skull and candle. If three or more of these show up, your stake is multiplied by up to 500 times. The next symbol is the genie. As with the skull, if three genies appear on a line, your initial bet is multiplied by 25.
If four show up, you will receive a 200 x multiplier; if you get five genies in a row, you will win 750 x your stake. The mysterious fortune teller will make a difference to your winnings, even if she only shows up twice. She will multiply your bet by five; however, if you get five fortune tellers, the multiplier increases to a magical 1,000. Finally, there is the devil himself.
Larry Linguini might want to avoid him, but you will want to see him as often as you can. Two devils are worth a ten x bonus, but get five and your stake will be multiplied by 1,500! Larry himself appears on stage as a stacked wild symbol. Locked in a water tank, he will cover four rows and substitute for any other symbols.
He is beautifully animated but appears to be having trouble with his act - will he be able to escape from the water tank before he drowns in front of the audience’s very eyes? The final symbol to take the stage is the scatter symbol, which is Larry’s theatrical poster image. If you get three or more of these symbols, you will enter the Great Escape Free Spins Round.
