Echo Entertainment seems to be one of the front runners in the competition to secure a casino license in Brisbane. To bolster its proposal and boost its chances of receiving a license, the company may enlist in the Ritz Carlton – a world-recognized luxury casino brand.
According to a report in the Courier Mail, the two companies are working together on the multibillion-dollar casino project in Brisbane’s Central Business District. Ritz Carlton would build a six-star luxury hotel on the property, which would help to attract affluent high rollers to the property. In Australia’s gambling market, the current focus is on high roller gamblers.
Casino operators and gambling firms aim to attract wealthy player from around the world to boost their profits and benefit the local economy. So, Brisbane politicians are likely to be most attracted to Echo Entertainment’s plans to bring in a world-recognized luxury casino brand that will draw in more high rollers.
The Brisbane casino would be the second Australian project for the Ritz Carlton. Recently, the hotel operator announced its plans to open a luxury hotel in Perth with the Far East Consortium. The property will be developed by the Far East Consortium, which also happens to be involved in Echo Entertainment’s Brisbane casino license bid.
The project will break ground in 2015 and the property is expected to be open to the public by 2018. As for Echo Entertainment’s Brisbane casino, a decision has yet to be made. The Queensland government is still mulling over the choices, as several casino operators have submitted impressive proposals.
At the moment, Echo Entertainment seems to be the top candidate, as Crown Casinos’ proposal has been compromised by issues with its credit rating and probity.
