The Star Casino in Sydney will soon face some steep competition, and Echo Entertainment aims to take preventative measures in order to ensure that the casino will continue to thrive. In 2019, Crown Casinos will open up its own high-roller casino in the city, which will be in direct competition with Echo Entertainment’s The Star. In preparation for the grand opening, Echo wants to revamp its high-roller offerings.
This Week, Echo Entertainment has submitted a development application to the City of Sydney Council. The operator has requested permission to make a $13.7 million extension to The Star. As part of the renovation, Echo Entertainment will add five new private gaming rooms to the 17th floor of the Astral Hotel Tower while extending one private gaming room that currently exists.
These extensions will to the existing high roller rooms at The Star: Sovereign Room and Inner Sanctum. The VIP areas aim to attract and cater to high roller players from Asia. To entice players to choose The Star, the casino operator offers exclusive tourist packages that include flights on executive flights.
‘‘Echo is undertaking the investment as part of our ongoing reinvestment in The Star,’’ says a spokesperson for the casino operator. ‘‘As outlined in Echo's recent trading update the underlying business has good momentum and we want to continue to build on this attracting both local and International visitors.’’
Once Crown Casino’s new venue opens, it will certainly take a lot more to get players to visit The Star; so, it makes sense that the company wants to upgrade its high-roller services. The Star has five years left to secure its place in Australia’s high-roller casino market, but it won’t be an easy task. Crown Casino’s new high roller casino looks incredibly tempting. The casino will cater to VIP clients online, and it will cost $1.3 billion to build.
