Imperial Palace Introduction
Imperial Palace is a game with five rows, three reels and 20 paylines that takes the player to the legendary Forbidden City, with its wooden pavilions and charming gardens. The aim of the game is to line up matching symbols for great wins. The card symbols are beautifully drawn in a style like calligraphy. The pictorial symbols are worth more if you manage to line these up.
In Chinese culture, the number eight is very auspicious; therefore, five of the temple symbol with its columns and ornate door will pay out an impressive 138 x the total wager. Gather five of the harp symbol and the payout is a very fortunate 88 x the total bet.
Getting started
When you look at the screen, you will notice a rather minimal layout compared with some games. Along the bottom of the screen are some controls, with more to be found by clicking on the menu symbol at the top right of the screen. The all-important spin button is the largish yellow disk at the bottom left of the screen. Click on this to start the reels spinning. To the left of this button is a small red tab with ‘PAYS’ written on it.
Clicking on this takes the player to the paytable, which explains what all the symbols are worth and gives more information about the special features of the game. At the bottom right is a tab that displays the wager for each spin, with handy plus and minus signs at each side to make it easy to increase or decrease the wager. To the left of this is a button labelled ‘AUTO’.
When the player clicks on this, they are taken to a display tab where there is an array of autoplay settings. Here the player can choose from 10 and up to 100 automatic spins, adjust loss limits and decide whether to stop on bonus wins. Click on the menu symbol for another way to access the paytable and for access to a page of information on the game. While up here, players can also adjust the sound and take the game full screen.
Wilds that whisk into action
The wild symbol is gold and easily recognised. It is a cause for celebration when these appear on the reels, as it means extra rewards. The fortune brush can also distribute its magic and turn whole reels wild to make even more winning combinations. If you rack up a major payout, the fortune brush sweeps across the screen, the words ‘BIG win’ appear, and loads of gold coins spray about in a very festive manner.
Monarch of bonus rounds
The empress symbol is the gateway to free spins. Three of these will activate a round of free spins, with varying numbers of free games and plentiful wilds.
